I have always loved martial arts and fought professional MMA from 2009-2011. I ended up quitting at just 25 years old, in large part because I dealt with extreme fatigue. While training I would have to sleep about 12 hours per day, but even without training it was hard to get out of bed.
I was not depressed, I was just tired. So I lived off coffee and energy drinks, but they only helped so much. Without them I could barely stay awake and get anything done.
Over the next few years I got married and had 4 kids. I barely had enough energy to get through work, so I wanted to give everything I had left after that to my family. But most nights my wife took care of the kids as I slept on the couch with kids playing around me.
One day I realized I had not trained in 10 years, and I was in the worst shape of my life.
That is when I returned to BJJ, but I knew I had to do something to deal with the fatigue I experienced, both on the mats and off. I began testing dozens of different supplements. The things that worked, I kept taking, but I quit taking the things that did not help.
One of the first things I found that actually helped was TMG. It is common in pre-workout supplements, but usually in very high doses. With some study and self-testing, I learned that high doses are often worse than having nothing at all. More is not always better. In fact, it makes you feel terrible.
As I continued to test ingredients, I found each of the six key ingredients that are in MatFuel, and I found amounts that kept me feeling great. Now, almost 4 years after originally making it, I still take it every single time I train.
It helps me feel motivated walking into the gym even after a long day of work. I feel alert and attentive whether I am teaching or learning something new. But most importantly, I have the energy to roll hard and recover quickly between hard rounds, even at 40 years old.
But just as importantly to me, it helps me stay energized throughout my day, without affecting my sleep at night. I can train hard every day, and still have plenty of energy to spend real quality time with my wife and kids.
I hope you love MatFuel as much as I do, and that it makes your time on the mats that much more productive and enjoyable, and that Jiu Jitsu and MatFuel continue to shape your whole life in the best possible way.
Recommended serving size is 3 to 5 capsules. You may start out with 3 or 4 if you want to gauge how your body responds to it.
MatFuel is very different from traditional pre-workouts because it does not have a ton of chemicals that wire you up, keep you from sleeping at night, and make you feel bad later.
Take MatFuel 30 minutes before training with or without food.
Is MatFuel really made for BJJ?
Yes. MatFuel was formulated around endurance, focus, and perceived exertion for Jiu Jitsu training rather than traditional pump-style pre-workout effects.
Does MatFuel contain caffeine?
Yes. The caffeine comes from guarana extract. A full serving contains less caffeine than a typical cup of coffee.
What if I cannot swallow the capsules?
You can open the capsules and mix the contents with a small amount of food or drink, but the taste may be strong.
